It's been officially announced now that the Arkham City Game of the Year edition will feature 'Harley Quinn's Revenge', a new DLC add-on! It apparently adds more than two hours of new playable content - Harley's in charge, she's got goons of her own and she is jonesin' to give the B-Man a whuppin'!The trailer can be viewed here. Check out her new outfit! Good to see that, despite being up the duff, heartbroken and hellbent on revenge, Harley still has time to revamp her look!

The new Bishoujo statue - of which we'd previously only seen an illustration - will be available of September this year! Pre-sales are out!

It's emerged that Anne Hathaway actually thought she was auditioning for the role of Harley in The Dark Knight Rises!

And that's it for now!

Breaking the drought...!

WOW. Well, it's been a helluva few months since I last updated this thing. Why so long? The truth is, I've been dealing with bad depression and the thought of tackling the updates really overwhelmed me. It just seemed like way too much to deal with!

So I'm really sorry about that! But I really want to get back on top, so here I am, making a go of it. Some of this is old news, but I'm putting it up to keep as full a record as possible in one place. If there's anythng I've missed PLEASE do let me know!

So, unless you've been living under a rock, you'd know an easter egg at the end of Arkham City revealed that Harley is PREGNANT, obviously with the Joker's progeny. This could lead to exciting new dynamics in a third game, were one to be made. Which looks likely. Would it be the concluding episode of a trilogy? Seems like the kind of storyline that would be an ideal climax. I guess we just have to wait and see...

In other really old news, the Mattel release of the Arkham City dolls have errors in Harley's hair colours. The red and black streaks on her ponytails appear on the wrong sides. You can see the error here.

VERY interestingly, the first issue of the 'Hunt for Harley' arc (Suicide Squad #6) is going back for a second print run. Intriguing, no? Especially considering the story revolves around the JokerxHarley relationship. Guess the fans are once again making their preferences felt through their wallets: JokerxHarley is HERE TO STAY, YIPPEE! Though we can expect the pairing won't be really teamed up again for a while (Joker is out of action at the moment), the interest in them as a couple remains dominant.
Interviews with Adam Glass - the writer for Suicide Squad - have piqued fans' emotions, criticisms, cautious anticipation and faith spliced with doubt. Have a read of them here and see what you think - in my opinion he swings between having a real appreciation for Harley with some misguided attitudes about who she is. Only time will tell how things will progress.
Adam Glass interviewed on USA Today - this interview in particular has caused controversy amongst fans.
Adam Glass intervied on PopCultureAddict - specifically on the Hunt for Harley story arc.

Tara Strong says playing Harley Quinn was terrifying after Arleen Sorkin made the role famous - enjoy more from the fabulous and funny Tara Strong, who loaned her wonderful voice talents to Harley in Arkham City.

Design plans have been released for a new-styled Harley Quinn - the Bishoujo Harley Quinn statue. It hasn't got past design stage yet, but it IS a lovely design - so keep your peepers peeped for when this beauty comes out!

The second Ame-Comi Harley Quinn statue has JUST been revealed at Toy Fair 2012. Another beauty for those who like these reimagined designs.

A sequel to the Batman Lego game has been announced so you can expect Harley will make her distinctive appearance, alongside her Mistah J, for more mischief and mayhem!

Arkham City Lockdown, an extra feature for Apple products (iPhones, etc..) has been released and features new levels with Harley! Read more about it here at The Gaming Examiner and VG247. See Harley's own special trailer here on youTUBE.
AND don't forget that the tie-in comic book miniseries Arkham Unhinged has also been released and Harley features heavily in it (Joker names her Queen of Gotham! <3)

Ideas being thrown around for a Suicide Squad game? WHAT-ever. But then, it'll all come down to the almighty buck.

PHEW! And that's... about it, for now. Again, if I have missed anything, PLEASE let me know: harleyquinnhaven@gmail.com
I will gratefully welcome the information!

In the meantime, I'm going to get onto updating the actual Haven itself - oy vey! ;)

Harley Quinn Redesign Postcard Protest!

Let DC Comics hear your voice and join in this old-fashioned letter-writing campaign!

Email me privately at harleyquinnhaven@gmail.com with your postal address** and you will receive 5 postcards (image above), fully addressed to DC Comics with blank space for you and your friends to write your message to DC: that the direction they're taking Harley in (particularly her redesign) is NOT one you, as a fan, can tolerate!

If we want DC to take notice that this "new look" is not winning us over, we need to be proactive and make sure they get the message!

If you can afford it, a donation of $5 (via paypal to harleyquinnhaven@gmail.com) to help cover costs would be appreciated. Donations will be used to help:
* Pay for printing costs ($55 per 100 cards)
* Purchase the envelopes the cards will be mailed to participants in
* Postage of the cards to participants all over the world
If you can't afford to donate, don't worry - I am still happy to send you cards because I want everyone who cares to be able to get involved!

SO PLEASE: send me your postal addresses so we can get this campaign under way! If enough of us send in postcards, DC will have to take note!

Fan Projects Galore!

As a Harley Quinn fan, I've got a bunch of pretty exciting personal announcements to make...

As some of you may know, I have teamed up with a dear friend of mine to create "GOTHAM FATALE" - a B:TAS accurate real-life representation of Harley & Ivy! We met 2 years ago at GenCon and have since hung out at several cons together as H&I since. During this, we discovered we have a lot of loves and interests in common... and even an authentic Harley & Ivy dynamic! Since we have such similar visions and aspirations we decided to join forces, creating GOTHAM FATALE.

So, what does Gotham Fatale DO?

At the basic level, we strive to create as authentic and realistic a representation of the two characters as possible - as though we stepped off the page! We are in-character at conventions and interact with people accordingly. But we are taking our vision further than that... we are realising our dream of creating, performing and hosting geek-themed burlesque events to coincide with the big conventions around Australia! We've already had our first, "COMIC STRIP", which we hosted for Supanova back in June this year. We teamed up with amazing neo-burlesque events "GALLERY BURLESQUE" in order to bring this night to life, and they really helped us create something fantastic, unqiue and fun, going the extra-mile to make this event happen in just over a week! It was a smash success, introducing many geeks to burlesque for the first time and showing seasoned burlesque fans a different side of the artform! In addition to ourselves appearing as Harley & Ivy, we also had Wonder Woman, Jack Sparrow, Jeannie, the Borg Queen and She-Hulk, to name but a few. It was a totally fantastic night full of fun, saucy and quality burlesque and great people.

Well, we are super-excited to announce we have joined forces with Gallery Burlesque once more to bring to the Sydney Fringe Festival: SECRET IDENTITY.

Mr G.B has come up with some dazzling ideas to make this event even more special than Comic Strip: at a secret location, there will be a screening of a DC documentary to start the festivities off, as well as a photo-booth - so costume & cosplay is not only encouraged but DESIRABLE - free cocktails and, of course, more fantastic Burlesque than you can shake a stick at - there's even a little BOYLESQUE so we've got all bases covered! Here's the line-up we've got:

Ginger Snap as Harley Quinn (that's me!)
Evelyn Ellenor as Poison Ivy
Frankie Faux as Tank Girl
Cherry Lush as Elvira
Sheena Miss Demeanour as Sheena Queen of the Jungle
Defy as The Joker
Betty Grumble as Captain America
Herbie Strangelove as Howl from "howls moving castle"
Delilah DuMoan as Squirrel Girl
Glitta Supanova as She-Hulk
Lucille Spielfuchs as Jack sparrow
Bella louche as the Vulcan vixen
Memphis Mae as Red Sonja
Baby Blue Bergman as Brigitte Bardot in "Comic Strip"
& La Bec as Wonder Woman

with special guest BATMAN

and hosted by Mr GB as Peter Parker (SpiderMan)

TIME: 7.30pm doors open
LOCATION: Midian, Marrickville, Sydney
TICKETS: Standing $15, table of 4 $100

Of course, we will have a few surprises throughout the night as well... a special guest or two! Really, this evening is gonna knock your socks off!! In keeping with the 'fringe' festival, this is at a secret underground location, so you have to pre-book your tickets to get the address. It's located in Marrickville and is a fantastic arts-space with plenty of room and a knock-out stage so you don't miss any of the action! SO BOOK YOUR TICKETS HERE to make sure you don't miss out on a night to remember!

In addition to this all-too-exciting and quickly-approaching evening of geeky debauchery to look forward to, Gotham Fatale have recently been honoured to have been invited as OFFICIAL AMBASSADORS for AUSCON 2011. Auscon is a convention with a difference: It's ALL about the fans. A gaming convention, Auscon offers myriad activities to choose from, enough to satisfy ALL gamers of all types. In order to make Auscon really special, they also encourage and welcome cosplay, and this year are having a burlesque event on the Saturday night - naturally, in theme of course - so expect more delightful geeky burlesque featuring characters from your favourite games, comics, shows and movies! Gotham Fatale are not participating in organising this evening, but we will be there as special guests - performing, of course, as Harley and Ivy - maybe even with a double-act for double the fun!

In addition to that, our roles as Ambassadors will include posing for photos, hosting panels on cosplay and our characters, judging cosplay events and interacting in character. We're really proud and pleased to have been invited to act as Ambassadors for Auscon, particularly with their ethos of delivering a convention aimed at fully satisfying the passions of the fans, and cannot WAIT to see you all there!

It's being held in Brisbane of QLD, Australia on the first weekend of October - 1st - 2nd. Tickets are available now so make sure you nab yours!

More information about the burlesque evening to come!

I also want to promote a project being created by a friend of mine, Kate Quinn - she's creating an international Harley cosplayer collaboration video that is going to be pretty special.
Basically, what you have to do is this: film yourself, in costume (any HQ costume) miming to a favourite song. You can make it as fancy or as simple as you want. The deadline for it has been extended into October to allow folks time to get themselves organised and get something awesome filmed! The final video will be published on her youtube channel and is sure to be a dazzling spectable! So definitely be part of it!
More information about it is HERE.

If you are a Harley Quinn cosplayer, there is a facebook group for you! The group is closed and strictly for HQ cosplayers, so it doesn't get cluttered with superfluous posts. It's a great place to network, share achievements, ideas, tips and just generally geek-out over Harley love! It's okay if you don't have a full costume yet, so long as you've got a photo of it in progress (no matter how little) somewhere in your facebook profile. It's also for all costumes - from the variety of canon options to original twists on her look. Currently, there are 150 HQ cosplayers from over the world who are members - whoda thunk there would be so many!?!

(no subject)

Comics Alliance has one sentence previews for the New 52. This is what they say about Suicide Squad:

"King Shark, Deadshot and Harley Quinn have been characters I've enjoyed reading in the past, so seeing them portrayed in this book as psychopaths with no sense of humor at all was painful for me."

Meanwhile, a slew of concept art for Arkham City has been released, including a series of preliminary designs for Harley Quinn. As it turns out - it coulda been a whole lot worse! Check 'em out below the cut!

For those of you lucky enough to be going to Batman Live, there is also a slew of HQ merchandise available. To see what's there, check it out below the cut...

Batman Live

Welp, all reports are coming out that Poppy Tierney as Harley Quinn is pretty much the best damn thing about Batman Live!
After the shock horror of the godawful costume design for the show, this is a huge relief and very welcome news!

It's also more than a little bittersweet for me - this past Sunday, the 29th, I had tickets for the show in London, before my overseas trip got cancelled. I came -THIS- close to seeing this performance in the flesh (from really good seats, too) and it was snatched away. :( This makes me very, very sad I have to say. I would've loved to have been amongst the first to see this performance that is unanimously being reported as fantastic. Excuse me, I have for-reals tears in my eyes right now... boo hoo. :(

Anyway... I've gathered up a slew of news articles on the show that mention Poppy specifically... have a read and join me in seething jealousy and heartache of all the people who get to see this show!

Little Updates

Livejournal was down for quite a while there - I wrote this at the beginning of last week but only just got around to posting it!

Well, San Diego Comic Con is over for another year... I spent the weekend trying to distract myself whilst still fertively checking updates and feeling sorrowful and depressed my long-anticipated was last-minute cancelled. Booo!

Harleypalooza went ahead - unfortunately there was a bit of a mixup. A lot of people arrived at midday, the scheduled time, but the protest didn't start until much later and there was only a handful of Harleys left. So there was sort of two Harleypaloozas! But no matter what time anyone was there, everyone looked wonderful and did a fantastic job!

The protest also got a fair bit of media coverage, with photos and videos too! Here's a round-up:

DC reboot protesters march to, tape signs on DC Comic-Con booth (Blastr)

Fox News Interviews The DC New 52 Relaunch Protest (Bleeding Cool/Fox)

Apparently Jim Lee could only justify Harley's redesign by saying that (paraphrase): "people liked how she looked in Arkham Asylum". SIIIIIGGGHHHHH. SO way to not get it, Lee. I mean, c'mon... part of the fun in having alternate versions of Harley is that we still have the classic original to go back to. We can freely love and enjoy the other 'looks' cos they're in other continuities - other worlds - while we know we still have classic Harley to rely on. Now you've taken that away from us! And it's stupid and nonsensical. Grrrrr.

Meanwhile, this article on Comics Alliance has them saying this about Harley: With regards to the cover, DC acknowledged negative reaction to the scantily clad Harley Quinn by saying "provocative is good." Later, a woman who said she named her children Talia and Harley asked why Harley Quinn looks so sinister on the cover. Glass said that he didn't draw the cover and that while she has a new outfit, Harley Quinn has the same bubbly personality she's always had, and that the fan will "certainly be able to recognize the character."
Provocative is good? Really? That tired old "any publicity is good publicity" crapola? C'mon. If you have to resort to knee-jerk shock-value tactics to get attention, chances are there's not much substance to the project. It IS nice to hear that she'll be the same character - but why the radically different, OOC look then? Oh right, cos Jim Lee is pig-headed. Gotcha.

The full-length look of HQ has also been released now - this has been floating around the web for a few days and I've blogged it elsewhere already but livejournal has been screwy so you've probably seen this already, but what the hey:

Just what exactly is with Jim Lee's current obsession with stirrups? For real? They look STUPID.

I was also sent this AMAZING photo of the upcoming Tango with Evil two-pack... purrrrrs... can't wait for it to be released! <3

Tara Stong - the talented voice actress who took over Arleen Sorkin for Arkham City - kindly tagged me in this photo of her standing next to a beautiful maquette of Arkham Asylum Harley Quinn!

Sadly, there were also many reports out of SDCC that DC Staff at panels were less than respectful on the subject of female representation in both staff and comic books. One particularly brave woman asked a few tough questions and was dismissed and ridiculed in response. In response, there has been a huge backlash amongst fans about this behaviour and part of that has been the initiating of this petition:
DC Comics: Hire More Women-- Here's A Few To Get You Started.
I've signed this petition and over 50 people I know have signed it as well. I highly advocate signing it! It only takes a minute and is an important statement to make.

Furthermore, there is a really excellent article on the subject here, written by a dude even - that's awesome!
